Coronavirus In Dogs

Coronavirus COVID-19 is a global pandemic, and we all want to protect our dogs and make sure they're happy and healthy. But with the coronavirus affecting humans, it's possible it could also affect your pets (dogs, cats, and pigs), but not highly transmissible. If your dog goes out and has contact with an infected person, there is a chance of getting infected.

Symptoms Of Caronavirus In Dogs

Dogs can show some similar signs as a human, such as coughing, sneezing, and a fever.  THEY SEEM TO BE LETHARGIC, SOMEWHAT DEPRESSED, MEANING THAT THEY JUST DON'T WANT TO GET UP AND MOVE AROUND. THEY DON'T REALLY WANT TO RESPOND TO YOU. THEY JUST DON'T WANT TO GET UP AND MOVE AROUND BECAUSE THEY FEEL PRETTY CRUMMY.

TREAT YOUR ANIMALS JUST LIKE ANOTHER PERSON YOU WANT TO SELF ISOLATE AWAY FROM THEM. YOU DON'T WANT TO INTERACT WITH THEM, AT ALL.

What Is the Difference Between CCoV and COVID-19?

CCoV And COVID-19 are not the same viruses. CCoV is an intestinal infection in dogs, and the COVID-19 effects lungs and creates breathing difficulties.

How To Protect Dogs From Coronavirus?

  • Follow all basic hygienic precautions before contact with your dog.
  • If you have contracted COVID-19, you're going to want to stay away from your pet, as much as possible. Dr. Brooks recommends having another family member take care of it. If that's not possible, wear protective gear around them and have as little contact as possible.
  • Clean the paws of your dog with paw wipes and paw cleaner.
  • Do not walk your dog in crowded areas.
  • If You have children, do not let them touch the dog and put their hands and fingers in the dog's mouth, as children usually do.
  • if your pet is sick IF IT'S GOT A FEVER AND THE FEVER IS LOW, LEAVE THAT ALONE AND LET IT RESOLVE ITSELF, ON IT'S OWN. MAKE SURE THE PET EATS AND DRINKS. And only in severe cases, your pet may need advance care. Dr. Brooks recommends not to get your pet tested if neither you or your pet is showing any symptoms of the virus.
